Kodak is famous for its quality film cameras and associative products; in the field of digital photography, however, it's best known for its cameras' ease of use and its versatile photo editing software, which enable the users to create personalized photos, with a variety of effects available for them to add to their photos. And they are not very expensive. But to achieve these goals, most Kodak products sacrifice the manual control options, which make them only and really a good choice for beginners.
Along with Nikon, Canon is a big name in digital photography. It produces a range of cameras that suit users of different levels. Now if you buy a Canon camera (a newer one) and a printer, you can achieve printing your photos by just connecting the camera and the printer and pressing one button, which will just take you a few seconds. Compared with Kodak, Canon's editing software are not so strong, though.
What can I say about Nikon!! It has really powerful cameras, of high-to-death prices, of course!!!! Most Nikon cameras offer full manual controls and thus attract even serious photographers. Although they don't seem to have great photo editing software, it doesn't really matter that much. Because with such excellent cameras, you can obviously make wonderful pictures without the aid of digital effects!!
Sony is just cool, and its appeal, apparently, is its portability. Whether it's a Sony computer, MD player or digital camera, it's always ready for easy data transferring. If you have a Sony laptop, you have good reasons to buy a Sony camera too, because you can plug your memory stick directly into the laptop, without having to connect all the cables required by many other brands!!!! If it's a mini DV or something, you laptop will have a IEE1394 port for it too! And I have to mention its cameras' small size and nice style too, which attract many young people!
Woo!! I don't know what I can say about my dream cameras!! They are too expensive!!!! :-( And I am not even talking about the really terrific ones (they are not even in my dreams)! Anyway, if I can afford, I will first get myself a Nikon coolpix 5700. What I like about it is of course it high quality and full manual controls, and also, I like its X8 optical zoom. Enjoy the view over "there", guys!! (It's $1200 by the way!) Sony DSC-F707 is not bad either! And there are a lot more amazing products!!
Digital photography is a big cake; everybody wants to get something! Other companies like Olympus (a big name too!!!!!!), Pentax, Fujifilm...produce digital cameras as well. This industry will surely have a bright future!!
